"It's got to make you laugh or cry or both."  —  Allan Holdsworth (on playing guitar)
MinBlue Gear PodXT Tips PodXT Patches Variax Toneport Guitar Links
— Guitars and Gear —
The basic guitars around here are a Fender MIM Satin Strat (I truly lucked out with this guitar — it feels and sounds as good as any Strat I've ever played), an SG mod'd with an SD Jazz at the neck, a JB at the bridge and coil tap switches for both, and a vintage Takamine acoustic (another lucky guitar). In the studio, the guitars go directly to a Line 6 PodXT (with an FBV Shortboard & volume pedal), then to the board, then out to an M-Audio Delta 1010 for recording in Sonar, with parallel outs to a pair of M-Audio BX-8 Studiophiles for monitoring. The FX Junkie, Collector Classics and Metal Shop packs from Line 6 are must-have additions to the PodXT and are required for some of the tones on the patch pages here.
The Pod setup is what's goin' most of the time, but one of our proud possessions is a vintage 70's Twin, and every now and then I'll have a need to fire it up. Most of the times, I'll put a Boss BD2 in front, mic it with an SM57 a little off center, feed that into an M-Audio Tampa, and let go. It's got that sweet sound that the Pod just can't quite get to (still, it does a pretty good job), but I'm gettin' old, and damn sure won't be haulin' around an amp if I don't have to.

Still...
