"I'm like a Whitman's music sampler."  —  Danny Gatton
MinBlue Gear PodXT Tips PodXT Patches Variax Toneport Guitar Links
". . . quick comment for you. I know on your site, it says that your tones are set up for the studio...well, I used them last weekend in a live setting. I just turned off the cab simulations in my POD XT Live and was running through a VOX AC30. I used your Crunch twin and your Match Deep and they sounded GREAT!. Lots of body! Thanks again for your great site!"   — Eric Martinez
— PodXT Patches & Audio Examples —
A few things to know before you start —
You never bother with manuals or the "read-me" files?  Go straight to the tones listed by style here, or to 'em listed by amp here.
You can download all of the tones and audio examples here (20mb file), or download just the tones here.
These tones are mostly for the studio, not for live performance. Some of them may sound a little thin standing alone, but they're designed that way to fit better into a mix without a bunch of post-EQ. Yet, you'll probably find that with a little tweaking, most of the tones will work fairly well playing out (see Eric's note above).
Most of the patch examples are played on the Strat, usually neck/middle pups for rhythm or acoustic tones, and bridge/middle for edgier tones. A few of the recto patches are played on the SG, and the Tak is played for a few of the acoustic patches.
Although most of these patches were designed from the ground up, I certainly don't claim originality for all of them — some are just simple modifications to the factory patches or to other patches we found on Custom Tone. For example, Brute 2 is a mod on the factory Brute patch. I do think that these mods make the patch better (for my purposes, at least), but I'm not claiming authorship.
The MP3's are encoded at 128, so the sound quality is only fair, and my guitar playing is quick 'n dirty for these short examples, so be forgiving.
Not all of the examples have been posted with the patch. There'll be a few more posted every day, and eventually they'll all be there. If you get a 404, try again tomorrow — the example will probably be there. And, if you'd like to help us out with an example of your own, go here for details.
To keep things simple when grouped by style, we'll just use 5 catagories:
MINBLUE - Signature tones for us - the ones we use the most
CLEAN - Patches for Rhythm, Jazz, Country, Acoustic, etc.
BLUES - Dirtier than Clean, but it ain't Metal
DIRTY - Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, etc.
EFFECTED - Extra Special Tones for Extra Special People
Okay, okay, enough already.  Here ya go:     Tones By Style      Tones By Amp
